Singapore to KLIA2 by bus

This is a report on a recent trip from Singapore to KLIA2. We had a 0700 flight to catch and this lists our experience of getting to the airport through buses.

Our journey started in Golden Mile Complex where we had our bus tickets printed out at the Grassland Express counter. We had ours reserved earlier but the bus was pretty empty and it should have been possible to get tickets there and then but I wouldn't bet on it.

Our tickets to KL TBS bus terminal

We departed promptly at 7pm though there was a bit of a jam in Singapore, and passed through immigration (super quick and painless) at Tuas Checkpoint and we were in Malaysia!

There was a short stop-over at Yong Peng (which still looked pretty similar to my last visit more than 5 years ago!), had some dinner and snacks, and we were back on the road to KL! Our bus was one of the very few buses operated by Grassland express with no wifi but it did not matter much because most of the passengers were sleeping.

At the ungodly hour of 2am, the driver called out 'KL TBS' and we have arrived. Our bus would continue on to Hat Yai and we were the only ones who got off.

We bought our tickets at the counter, not at the machine
At first, we went to the machine to get our bus tickets to KLIA2 (the train wasn't running until much later), but faced some issues so we went to the counter instead. A good thing about the counter was that they didn't need to check our passports and they did not impose a booking fee which the machine charged! It was also a free seating bus so the seating allotment did not matter. It would be good to board the bus earlier for more comfortable seats especially for completely filled buses like ours.

At the waiting area, preparing to board. Our ride was at 3am!

It was a quick and uneventful ride and we reached KLIA2 past 4 am.
